Batesburg-Leesville hosted one of several National Night Out events in Lexington County last week. The highlight of the event was a real fire demo, in which kids and adults were able to watch as firefighters doused flames on a couch and curtains in a controlled environment. Kids had their fingerprints taken. The state Law Enforcement Division brought its search-and-rescue Redbone hound dog. The event also included a cookout, activities for kids, visits from local officials and law enforcement. Vendors on hand included the Lexington County Public Library and local churches.
