Brookland-Cayce loses heart-breaker to Hartsville

Brookland-Cayce led Harstville until late in the fourth quarter when the Red Foxes came back and recorded a 22-21 win over the Bearcats at Fort Knox.

BC went up 7-0 early in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by quarterback Perry Whitten.

BC got the ball again Bearcats and Will Way raced 45 yards to the end zone to put BC up 14-0.
On their possession Hartvsvill muffed a punt and London Tillman tackled the punter.  BC moved the ball to the Red Fox 21, but missed a field goal from there.

Hartsville's  Dariyan Pendergrass returned a punt 50 yards punt return, to the BC 13 after a 5-yard peanlty. But the Brrolaknd-Cayce defense held on a fourth down at the 4.

Hartsville opened the third quarter with a drive of 8:12 drive before the Bearcat defense  stopped it at the BC 17. But Whitten was sacked and fumbled the ball at the BC 4-yard-line. Red Fox quarterback Owen Taylor took the ball in for the TD. The extra point was good to cut BC's lead to 14-7.
 But on the the Bearcat's possession, Way broke free for a 75-yard touchdown to put BC up 21-7 with 1:27 left in the third quarter

On its possession, Hartsville drove the field. On 4th and 2, Taylor muscled his way into the end zone again to cut BC's lead to 7 at 21-14 with 7:37 left in the game.
The Red Fox defense then held the Bearcats and from the Red Fox 23 Taylor hit J'Shawn Anderson for a 77-yard scoring strike with 3:38 left in the game. Hartville went for 2 and Taylor bullied his way into the end zone again to give the Red Foxes the win.

Hartsville will travel to Myrtle Beach for the Class 4A Lower State title.
