1 SHY OF PERFECTION - Undefeated Chapin girls' lacrosse headed back to state finals

Lady Eagles will face Fort Mill at 4 p.m. at Irmo High School for Class 5A title

Posted

Saturday’s S.C. High School League Lacrosse finals will take place at W.C. Hawkins Stadium on the campus of Irmo High School.

It will feature a local team in the undefeated Chapin girls. The Lady Eagles defeated Wando 13-6 Tuesday to claim the Class 5A Lower State championship.

Jordan Green had 4 goals, Sadie Salazar added 3 and Riley Floyd and Angel Tisdale had 2 each as Chapin (15-0) defeated the Lady Warriors on the road for the 2nd time this season. It was also their 2nd consecutive win in the series after going 0-7.

This is the 3rd consecutive Lower State title for the Lady Eagles, who advanced twice previously in Class 4A and lost both times to Bishop England. They will now face Fort Mill, which dethroned defending Class 5A champion J.L. Mann 14-13 in the Upper State final.

The contest was a rematch of last year's state final won by the Patriots.

Match time for the girls' final is 4 p.m. at Irmo High School.

The boys' contest at 6:30 p.m. will also feature Fort Mill against 4-time defending Class 5A champion Wando. The Warriors defeated Dutch Fork 17-5 in the Lower State final which was a rematch of last year's state final.
