Defending Class 2A champion Gray Colligiate Academy jumped out early on Mullins and cruised to a 76-47 win Tuesday at Allen University.
The War Eagles (19-10) had a halftime lead of 38-26 and Ty Rivers scored 16 points in the first half. Gray Collegiate was up 51-32 at the end of the third quarter. Gray Collegiate guard and S.C. Basketball Coaches Association Class 2A PLayer of the Year Tommy Bruner was the top scorer for both teams with 29 points and Khalil Robinson added 20. .
The win puts the War Eagles, coached by Dion Bethea, in the Class 2A Lower State final against sister school Ocenanside Collegiate. The Landsharks (23-4) defeated Woodland 69-63 Tuesday night to advance. The game will be played at 5:30 p.m. at the Florence Civic Center in Florence.
Gray Collegiate leads the all-time series 3-0, including a 75-56 win on Dec. 11, 2018 in Mount Pleasant.
