Just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, a Pleasant Hill Middle School teacher thought she smelled gas and immediately notified school administrators.
Administrators quickly used the school’s normal fire drill procedure to evacuate the school and alerted the fire department.
All students and staff were evacuated safely, while the fire service responded.
They did locate a small leak of natural gas coming from a flexible supply line to HVAC unit on the roof. They cut the gas to the unit off while repairs take place.
All students and staff have returned to class and a normal schedule.
