Dominion to aid minority students

$500,000 available in scholarships

Lexington County minority students are eligible for $500,000 in Dominion Energy scholarships.

Dominion President Robert Blue said, "Education can serve as a springboard for social and economic mobility."

Applications will be accepted through Jan. 25 at 4 pm.

To be eligible, students must be Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, or Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.

They must also be high school seniors, graduates or college undergraduates enrolled or plan to enroll fulltime at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

60 scholarships will be awarded this year totaling $500,000.
