South Carolina won 126 economic projects worth $4 billion and 11,147 jobs in 2020.
Nephron Pharmaceuticals’s Lexington County expansion accounted for $215.8 million and 380 jobs.
The SC Department of Commerce’s annual industry recruitment report showed an increase from 2019's $2.4 billion in economic investment despite covid-19.
Mark Anthony Brewing’s $400 million investment in a new production facility in Richland County is projected to bring 300 jobs.
The Agriculture Technology Campus in Hampton County is a $314 million investment with 1,500 projected jobs.
Walmart’s $220 million new distribution center in Dorchester County is projected to create 1,000 jobs.
New projects made up 54% of the 2020 investment, with expansions accounting for 46%. The majority of investment was domestic, with 64% from US companies, followed by 10% from Canada and 6% from China.
Agribusiness brought in nearly 3,000 jobs.
Urban projects represented 72% of 2020 investment.
$1.1 billion in rural community investment nearly doubled from last year.
