Aunt Ginger Corley's holiday party favorite

As promised, here is the recipe for Aunt Ginger Corley’s 2-ingredient ‘Quick Stop’ Cheese Ball.
Her cheese ball was something she was sure to make for any holiday party.
Aunt Ginger was known to stop at any gas station with a food pantry to do her holiday shopping.  It was not unusual at all for her to have a really good recipe that could be put together with items she bought while someone was pumping her gas. You can’t find stations like that any more. It’s simple like many wonderful recipes.
Bring a package of cream cheese to room temperature.
Finely chop one large jar of dried beef.  Combine and roll into a ball shape, a bell shape or other festive form.
Serve with your favorite crackers or eat with a spoon as Aunt Ginger often did!
Aunt Ginger once made this in the shape of a snowman for a Christmas drop in. Believe it or not, there were more compliments on it than on the complicated dishes I served. I believe it was the love with which she made it that made it memorable.
She became seriously ill one Christmas and I kept her cheese ball remnants for months as I knew it would likely be the last one like it. Sadly, I was correct.
I never touched it. I liked opening the refrigerator door and seeing it.  She passed away not long after. Every Christmas I think of her recipes that were as memorable as she.
I know your family has many recipes filled with love, holiday tradition and that offer a ‘taste of home’ and comfort.
At the holidays each year, I am reminded of departed friends and family as I make the dishes they made many years ago.  It is remarkable that just a taste or a smell can take us back to what were happier times in our lives.
Perhaps it would give you a lot of pleasure to re-visit some of the holiday recipes from your own family.  Maybe it is time to show the next generation how to make recipes they have enjoyed year to year. Giving them a deeper appreciation of their family is easy when sitting around the table.
