Church offers prayer in your car

Posted

We have had drive through pharmacies, fast food and dry cleaning for years.
It may have been inevitable that drive-through prayer would be offered.
I for one am delighted to see it happen here.
My friends at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church always seem to be looking for innovative ways to serve their members and Lexington.
The idea began when a church member heard about a similar program from a cousin. After a little research she found a church in Tennessee that had been doing one for 10 years. That led to starting one here.
Saxe Gotha members hosted the first, monthly drive through prayer in their church parking lot in April. They will continue to offer this unique ministry on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 7 - 8 a.m.
Members generally pray for 5 to 15 people who stop by during each event.
The church wants this ministry to grow.
You have prayer needs? They have the volunteers.
No matter the need, volunteers are willing to assist.
Whether it is for office seekers and voters like in the June primary season, Children returning to school in August or for the personal needs of those seeking intercessory prayer.
Community response has been overwhelmingly positive based on all of the horn honks, thumbs up and big smiles from passersby. Also more than 8,000 people were reached by their post on Facebook.
Their next event will be October 16. Plan to go by, share your needs and concerns and let the dedicated members of Saxe Gotha pray for you.
For more information contact them at 359-7770 or go to www.saxegotha.org.
