Gilbert Pack 60 Scouts held its annual Pinewood Derby at Gilbert Elementary School. Prior to the derby, Pack 60 Scouts took a few weekends to design and build the race cars. The special day was April 21 with the Pinewood Derby beginning at 11 a.m.  Scouts were cheered on by their friends and families. The 2018 Derby winners are Lions (5K) - Briggs Coker,  Tigers (1st grade), Aiden Shealy, Wolves (2nd grade), Steven Wilhelm,  Bears (3rd grade), Rhys Phelps, Webelos (4th grade), Nicholas Conn, and AOL (5th grade) Landon Triplett.

This weekend several Scouts will be camping with their families and friends at Hamilton Branch State Park at the Spring Family Camping Trip. Activities for the Scouts will include a fishing tournament.

Holly W.I.R.E. (Women in Rural Electrification) members with Mid-Carolina COOP will have its Spring meeting May 7  at 6 p.m. at Union Grove Lutheran Church in Gilbert. The guest speaker will be Marti Colucci with Leeza’s Care Connection. Entertainer Leeza Gibbons created the foundation in 2002 as a promise to her mother. Gibbon’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and she wanted to tell her mothers story and make it count. There are several Leeza’s Care Connection centers in the country. Last year, over 25,000 people visited the centers supporting caregivers with programs that educate, empower and energize. Prior to the program a light meal will be served. For information on becoming a Holly W.I.R.E. member, email Lacy Ridgell at LACY@mcecoop.com.

Beulah United Methodist Church invites you to its annual Ladies Night Out “Spring Time,” May 11 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $9 for adults, and $5 dollars for ages 7 to 12 years. The evening will include a meal, entertainment and door prizes. For information call 892-2842.
