Habitat for Humanity and Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church recently held a “first nail” ceremony for its new homeowners.
The build is a new project in Lexington behind Lexington Medical Center Urgent Care.
The First Nail Ceremony officially kicks off the construction on homes for Soso and another Lexington County resident.
Councilwoman Constance Fleming, Town Councilman Ron Williams and others were there to support the new homeowners.
Both expressed sincere gratitude for Habitat and Mt. Horeb for their efforts to provide affordable housing in the downtown area of Lexington.
Pastor Jeff Kersey of Mt. Horeb kicked off the ceremony with prayer and was followed by Roy Kramer, Executive Director for the local habitat operations, Janis Albergotti, Missions Director and Dell Simpson of the Circles Lexington program.
Circles is a financial and life skills program run by Mt. Horeb.
Soso raised herself out of poverty to provided a better quality of life for her 3 children.
Soso used the skills learned in the Circles program to get to where she is today.
Habitat for Humanity is a valuable tool itself for potential homeowners.
