Date Nut Balls are nice to have on hand

Hey Lexington, get ready! This recipe, believe it or not, came from Glennville, GA.  If you’ve ever seen my hometown’s water tower, you’ll recognize that Glenville is the largest producer of the Vidalia onion in the world. But this recipe doesn’t call for any onions.

This recipe is not difficult. If you love dates, which I do, this recipe is fun to take to parties or just to have around the house as a snack. A sweet, sweet snack. Mmmm, oh there it goes again—the abstinence of sweets.

DATE NUT BALLS
A No Bake Recipe

1    stick butter
1    cup brown sugar
1    cup dates, chopped
2    cups Rice Krispies
1    cup nuts, chopped
1    tsp. vanilla
            Confectioner’s Sugar
Melt butter in sauce pan, add sugar, canilla, and dates. Cook over low heat, stir constantly until mixed well. Take off heat and let cool some.
Pour over nuts and Rice Krispies. Mix well. Shape into balls and roll in powdered sugar.
