Do you remember...

Our memory involves 3 processes.
Our brains receive and encode new information, record it, then retrieve it when needed.
Decline in memory begins in your 50s.
This is the age when chemical and structural changes begin in our brains.
A study performed on people measured memory.
114 people took part in a 6-part memory experiment.
Researchers showed participants videos, word lists and images.
The researchers then asked them to walk forward, backward, sit still or imagine doing these things.
Those who walked backwards, thought of or even watched a video of it had greater recall results.
Additional studies will be required to find why this happens and could be included in future treatments.
Here are some tips for improving your own memory loss:
• 150 minutes a week of aerobic activity, such as walking, or 10 minute walks each day
• Stay mentally active. Do crossword puzzles, take different routes when driving, learn to play a musical instrument.
• Social interaction helps ward off depression and stress. Both can contribute to memory loss.
• Write down tasks, appointments and other events.
Repeat entries out load so it becomes encoded and recorded in your memory.
• Sleep 7-9 hours daily.
• Eat fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Choose low-fat proteins: fish, beans and skinless poultry.
• Keep your wellness appointments for chronic conditions such as depression, high blood pressure, diabetes, hearing loss, and cholesterol.
