How to listen to podcasts

Last week I talked about podcasts - a modern take on talk radio. If you wondered how you can listen to podcasts, this is for you! The short answer is, it depends on the type of device you’re using.
Apple equips iPhones, iPads, and iPods with podcast functionality. You can listen to shows you like through the Apple Podcasts app. You can find new podcasts to listen to in the iTunes store. Select the “Podcast” option, search for keywords relevant to the topic you’d like to learn more about. You can also scroll through the available options. To have your device download new episodes of a show automatically, subscribe. You’ll find a podcast relevant to your interests in iTunes and click “subscribe”. To listen to a particular episode without subscribing, click its episode number.
Android devices offer a variety of options as well. The Google podcasts app is one option. The perk of this app is integration with Google Assistant and Google Home. Podcast Addict is another app which allows you to listen to podcasts. It will also permit you to watch video podcasts. It also lets you listen to internet radio stations on your device. Both of these apps allow you to search for topics and subscribe to shows which interest you.
If you'd like to have one list of podcasts across multiple devices, I would suggest using Spotify. If you already the Spotify app to listen to music for free it's an easy switch. Look for “Podcasts” in the sidebar to listen to programs relevant to your interests.
