After I gave birth to our first child in 2009, my life changed.
My body changed, too.
I started experiencing fatigue, nausea and mood swings.
Then came weight loss.
My doctor told me I had hyper-thyroidism.
He didn’t put me on medication.
I was to wait and see if my body would regulate itself over the next 6-12 months.
Those were the toughest months of my life.
My weight loss and mood swings continued.
I felt so lost inside.
I stopped wanting to go out in public.
I truly hated everything.
Anyone who has battled thyroid disease can probably relate.
Many factors cause thyroid issues.
Check with your physician if you experience excessive sweating, hunger or fatigue, heat intolerance, irritability, increased heart rate, difficulty sleeping, irregular menstrual cycles, puffy eyes, weight loss, hair loss, diarrhea, warm skin, muscle tremors.
One of my dear friends was recently diagnosed with hyper-thyroidism and Graves Disease, an immune system disorder that results in the overproduction of thyroid hormones.
My advice to anyone with thyroid issues is to find a support group.
Talk openly about it.
Learn to love the new you the best you can.
Then work for a better, healthier you.
