Listen to your heart

Posted

At a recent appointment with my Pulmonologist, I learned that my heart is in a state of Tachycardia.
Tachycardia is a heart rate that exceeds the normal resting rate of 60-100 beats per minute.
Infants and children up to 10 years old have naturally higher resting heart rates due to age difference and maturity of the body.
Who knew a heartbeat could tell you if you’re healthy?
A lower heart rate in adults means more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. For example, highly trained athletes may have a resting heart rate of 40-60 bpm.
Basically, if your heart rate is higher than the normal resting bpm, you need to get active.
That’s my goal for the new year.
Check your heartrate as you’re resting. You must be at “rest” at least 10 minutes prior to checking your bpm.
Depending on your results, you may need to get heart healthy, too. Let’s get active together! For information on how to check your pulse, visit https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/003399.htm .
