A new church built on miracles

Icon Church to open on Easter Sunday

Posted

New churches are the lifeblood of growing God’s kingdom. And we are blessed to have another one in our community.
Icon Church will have their first service on Easter Sunday in a new facility on St. Andrews Rd. It will be in the old New Direction Building. The story behind Icon Church is quite remarkable and shows how God makes things happen.
Pastors Tony and LaShea Colson Planted a church in Tennessee in 2002 and were there 14 years. That is until they received a calling from a church in Greenville, SC about becoming the campus pastor of their satellite church in the Redbank area of Lexington. They accepted and moved to Lexington 2 and a half years ago. At the time they had no idea their new home would be the first in a chain of miracles that would create a new church.
In 2018, a decision was made to close the Redbank campus. However, instead of moving on to other local churches, the congregation persuaded the Colsons to start a new church along with them. But where to meet was in question.
Now to the first miracle: the home. It was just down the street from the Pastor of The Church of the Nazarene on St. Andrews Rd. Their daughters had become close friends. The Pastor contacted Tony and offered his church for a Sunday afternoon service.
Then God poured on the miracles. Bishop Bailey of New Direction Church contacted Tony about renting their old facility. Within the week a church in Charlotte that was closing offered him 2 truck-loads of chairs, sound equipment, office supplies and even paper products for the bathrooms. Everything they needed for a new church was provided.
