Oakwood answers your questions

Oakwood Baptist Church has faithfully served Oak Grove for 47 years.
Many of us know the church for their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Fall Festival. This year they are adding something new.
The church and pastor have been working with the Lexington Baptist Association to learn God’s plan to reinvigorate their commitment to rapidly growing Lexington. The church formed a task force to develop an action plan and strategy.
The pastor recalled lessons learned at previous churches in Florida and Iowa.
Those churches found ways to reach and be a blessing to their communities.
They also experienced growth, mainly through people who had not been churchgoers.
One of those was working with other churches to provide a forum where people could have their questions answered.
This benefitted churchgoers who became more confident in sharing their faith, and non-churchgoers who heard answers from a Christian perspective.
On Sunday and Monday, Sept. 15-16, Oakwood plans a free live event put on by 1:1 ANSWERS IN GENESIS®.
It will equip people with an understanding of Genesis 1-11 and how it relates to our community today. There will be 8 sessions that cover a variety of topics that will answer questions such as:
Don’t the Bible and science contradict each other?
If God is good, then why does He allow bad things to happen?
What happened to the dinosaurs?
Where did all the races of people come from?
What about cavemen?
Where did Cain get his wife?
They have invited local Christian schools, home school families and associations, other churches and our community to join them. All are welcome.
