Saxe Gotha Spouse Loss Seminar

Now that I’m past 70, I’m seeing long-time friends pass away.
In the last two years, I have lost some who meant a lot to me.
As much as I miss them, I can’t imagine how much their spouses and family miss them.
Some surviving spouses have told me about the loneliness, overwhelming sense of loss and hopelessness that they feel every day. They find it difficult go on with life.
Others tell me that they feel the loss but have been able to move forward.
Their “new normal” is as a productive member of their family, community and church. That just proves that people recover from losing their spouse differently.
To help with your loss, Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington plans a special GriefShare Program Sunday, April 7, 4-6 pm in rooms 112/113 in ”The Lighthouse” behind the main building.
This will help men and women grapple with the challenges of being widowed.
You will see a 35-minute video filled with moving stories, practical advice and a variety of perspectives on spousal loss.
Afterwards, participants can discuss what they have learned with other widows and widowers. You will likely find that you’re not alone in how you grieve and what you’re experiencing is normal. A booklet to take home contains 30 short readings on how to rebuild your life.
Admission is free, but the church requests that you make reservations so they will know how many books to order. Call 803-359-7770. Please pass the word onto others who may benefit from the event.
