Track your stimulous payment

Have you gotten your Economic Impact Payment?
CARES Act payments hit Lexington County bank accounts as early as April 15.
The IRS advises that you will be able to check the status of your payments. The website tracking tool was to go live April 17. Unfortunately, due to high traffic and system bugs, users had issues for the 1st several weeks.
The website has been updated and users report it’s working much better.
The link to visit is www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment. The IRS phones are not active. If you don’t have internet access you may have to wait on a paper check. This also means if anyone calls claiming to be the IRS, they’re likely a scammer.
If you filed a tax return in 2018 or 2019 track your payment by clicking the blue “Get My Payment” button. Read the disclaimer on the next screen and click OK.
Before you enter any information make sure the address contains irs.gov. If irs.gov is in the address, it’s a legitimate site.
To track your payment you will have to submit your Social Security number, date of birth and address. Some users report errors if they include special characters like number signs, so be prepared to try your address with and without symbols.
The site should then display a date you can expect your payment.
Didn’t file a tax return for 2018 or 2019? Visit the above page. Click the “filing requirement” link to see if you need to file a tax return.
If you are a US citizen or permanent resident not claimed as a dependent by someone else, have a Social Security number, had gross income not over $12,200 ($24,400 for married couples) in 2019 or did not file a return for 2018 or 2019 you can provide your details. Use the “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” link.
If you’ve filed your taxes and the site doesn’t display a date, enter your address in ALL CAPS or without symbols.
The website updates once a day so try again tomorrow. The IRS has a detailed Frequently Asked Questions page at https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment-frequently-asked-questions .
Since many have been confused despite the FAQ, I’ll explain it next week.
