Your words have power

Certain words come to mind to describe this time of year.
Thankfulness, forgiveness, thoughtfulness, selflessness, love, joy.
A single word has the power to influence genes that regulate physical and emotional stress.
That’s the finding of Andrew Newberg, M.D. and Mark Robert Waldman in their book “Words Can Change Your Brain.”
The word “love” can strengthen our frontal lobes and promote cognitive functioning.
Hostile words can affect specific genes that produce neurochemicals that protect us from stress.
Just 1 negative word can increase the activity of amygdala - the fear center of our brain.
This releases stress-producing hormones which interrupt our brain functioning.
Practice accountability for your actions and words.
Someone you know may need a reminder of this.
This holiday season, mind your words, because they truly do hold so much power.
Give thanks to others, be selfless, love one another, give back and share joy.
Happy holidays!
Next week: Please, wash your hands
