The Town of Lexington will participate in National Drug Take Back Day Oct. 26.

The Lexington Police Department, along with the Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council and the Drug Enforcement Administration, will be working together at CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens in Lexington to collect unwanted and expired prescription drugs.

All discarded prescription drugs collected will be turned over to the DEA for proper disposal.

DEA will also accept vaping devices and cartridges at any of its drop off locations during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Devices containing lithium ion batteries cannot be accepted.

The events will be from 10 am - 2 pm at:

  • CVS Pharmacy - 5608 Sunset Blvd./US-378
  • Walgreens - 5220 Sunset Blvd./US-378

“Addiction to prescription medications continues to be on a dangerous rise and has a direct effect on families in the Town of Lexington community and beyond.
"National Drug Take Back Day is the perfect opportunity to take a few minutes to clean your medicine cabinet to ensure that these dangerous drugs are disposed of safely and are kept out of the hands of those who would abuse them,” said Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green.
