White Knoll band will perform in Philly Thanksgiving parade

Posted

The White Knoll High School Timberwolf Band will perform live in the 6abc/Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday. The parade will start at 8:30 am.

The 1.4-mile parade held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is the oldest Thanksgiving parade in the country — first staged in 1920.

The band joins marching bands from Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Director of Bands Tom Padgett says they are currently in New York, and leave for Philadelphia Wednesday. He said they are extremely excited to represent White Knoll High School, Lexington School District 1 and the state of South Carolina in the 100th annual parade.

The district says the band students have not stopped practicing since state finals Oct. 26, where they placed 2nd in class 4A less than 8/10ths behind the 1st-place band.
