The Lexington County Blowfish has teamed up with the Lexington County library.

The baseball tram launched Blowie’s Online Reading Challenge last week.

It aims to keep children reading during the virus school closures. 

The program offers e-reading materials.

“This is for a wonderful opportunity for families to develop a deeper relationship through reading,” Youth Services Coordinator Melissa Pityk said.

 “There are downloadable read-alongs, read-alouds and e-books for older children and teens.”

As a part of Blowie’s Online Reading Challenge, Lexington County elementary students need to read just 4 books during the month of April to complete the challenge.

Blowie’s Online Reading Challenge, presented by the Lexington County Chronicle, Comporium, Lexington County Farm Bureau, and Dave & Buster's, launched at the beginning of April. 

Parents can register their children using the online registration form on goblowfish.com . The program will run through the month of April.

Students are asked to read 1 grade appropriate book each week for 4 weeks. 

On completion, the participating students will receive 2 free tickets to a Blowfish game this season, as well as a free Blowie Snowie Shaved Ice and a complimentary game of speed pitch.  

After the challenge ends April 30, an online completion form needs to be filled out to confirm the number of tickets needed for your student and family.
