As covid case rates climb, deaths in SC remain low.

Much of that can be credited to early detectioin and improved care.

SC had a reported 16 confirmed deaths and 7 probable deths Saturday.'s death Dec. 16

1 of those was an elderly Lexington County patient who died Dec. 16.

The county had the 3rd highest new case rate Saturday with193.

Richlad County had 146 new cases and no reported deaths.

Greenville County had 547 new cases and York County had n224

The Department of Health and Environmental Control announced:.

  • Confirmed and probable cases: 250,386/20,151
  • Confirmed and probable deaths: 4,529/366
  • Tests performed for South Carolinians: 3,286,655

Testing opportunities (scdhec.gov/findatest)

  • Testing opportunities available statewide: 167

Percent positive (scdhec.gov/COVID19dashboard)

  • 12,767 new individual test results reported statewide (not including antibody tests)
  • 22.9% tested positive as infected.
  • That means 77.1% tested negative as uninfected.
