A 12-year-old girl was killed in an accident near Pelion about 8:15 pm Tuesday.
According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, Stacy Elizabeth Bagwell, 12, of Leesville was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries.

The SUV in which she was riding veered off the left side of the 900 block of Bub Shumpert Road and overturned.

She was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver and another passenger were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol.
