2 students were arrested last week for making school threats.
A Pelion Middle School 7th-grader was charged last Thursday for bringing a knife to school.
The 12-year-old is charged with a weapons violation and making threats against a school.
He had threatened on social media to kill a teacher Oct. 17.
The student’s name will not be released as he is under 18.
When asked if he had access to weapons at home, his mother disclosed there were several shotguns at home, but they are locked up and not accessible to him, police reported.
The student was immediately suspended and has been recommended for expulsion, said district spokesperson Mary Beth Hill.

A Swansea High School student was charged with making direct threats against students on a school bus Oct. 15.
Steven Isaac Smith, 18, made verbal threats to kill others and harm another person, according to an arrest warrant.
Police reported Smith argued with 2 female students on the bus.
He claims they were bullying another female student.
Smith told the investigating officer the girls were making racist comments toward him and using inappropriate language toward the other student.
During the argument, Smith threatened to “shoot the bus up,” according to the reports.
Smith was arrested at the school. He is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
He has been suspended from school pending a district hearing, according to Lexington District 4’s Lisa Ingram.
