State health officials reported 56 more confirmed covid-19 deaths and 1 probable death today.
None of them were in Lexington County.
.The SC Department of Health and Environmental Control also reported 1,870 new confirmed cases and 1 probable case.
AS DHEC escalates testing, 110 cases were in Lexingtn County and 193 were in Richland County.
This brings the total confirmed cases to 73,101, probable cases to 236, confirmed deaths to 1,203 and 18 probable deaths.
South Carolina health officials have reported 73,101 infections to date.
Of those 73,101 infections, 1,203 victims did not survive – meaning .016% died.
Tragic as that is, it also means that 71,898 South Carolinians – 99.98% – survived the virus and may be immune.

As of yesterday, a total of 648,663 tests have been conducted in the state.
8,490 individual test results were reported to DHEC yesterday statewide, not including antibody tests.
22% tested positive as infected. That means 78% tested negative as virus free..
In DHEC's effort to increase under-served and rural community testing, 88 mobile testing events are scheduled through August 15.
While hospitals move to a new federal reporting system, DHEC is using the state’s Bed Availability Report Tracking.
Based on information from BART – estimated to be accurate within 10% – as of yesterday, 9,598 hospital beds are in use (84% capacity) and 1,823 are available.
Of those hospitalized, 1,593 are covid-19 patients.
