9 new Lexington County covid-19 cases

20 cases, 1 death in Richland County

Lexington County has 9 new covid-19 cases today but no deaths.

SC health officials reported 20 cases and 1 death in Richland County

Department of Health and Environmental Control officials reported 130 new cases and 11 more deaths statewide..

This brings the total  confirmed in South Carolina to 5,881 with 203.deaths.

6 deaths occurred in elderly individuals.

Clarendon and Greenville counties reported 2 deaths each and Beaufort and Berkeley 1 each.

5 deaths occurred in middle-aged individuals.

Florence had 2, Clarendonn, Greenville, and Richland 1 each.

As of this morning, 4,480 hospital beds are available and 6,932 arein use,  a 60.7%  rate.

Of the 6,932 beds in use, 311 are occupied by patients who have tested positive or are under investigation.

As of April 28, DHEC’ has conducted 14,862 tests with 1,963 positive and 12,899 negative.

A total of 54,217 tests by DHEC  and private labs have been conducted.

DHEC’s interactive maps were updated to include the latest confirmed and estimated cases by county and ZIP code.

The estimated cases based on evidence suggsts for every known case there could be up to 9 people with the virus who remain unidentified .
