Columbia Metropolitan Airport is spreading its wings.
The airport commission has chosen Magnus Development Partners as the developer for 500 acres of surrounding property.
Magnus will work with the airport to determine the highest and best use for each property and create supporting plans for the available land.
Each parcel offers unique features based on its size, configuration, location, and zoning catering to different business and project needs.
The strategic location of the property brings the potential for multiple types of development including industrial, aviation, hotel and commercial development.
The property has the advantage of being in close to I-26 and I-77, providing easy access for transporting goods and services.
“Airports throughout the country provide an economic catalyst to create new development,” said Kevin Werner, a partner with Magnus . “CAE’s continued growth, coupled with its strategic location will help us develop new projects to expand the local tax base and create new jobs.”
“For decades, this has been the region’s most underutilized corridor”, added Mike Gula, CAE Executive Director. “We look forward to working with Magnus to develop a strategic plan that will allow this to flourish by attracting a broad range of new businesses”.
The airport provides nonstop service to 8 major cities and 9 airports including Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, New York City (LGA), Philadelphia and Washington (Dulles and Reagan National).
It had 1.3 million passengers in 2019.
CAE is served by American, Delta and United Airlines and is a regional cargo hub for UPS and FedEx.
