The cost of Lexington 3 school inprovements will be about $40 million less.
2 years ago, a $90 million project was voted down.
Architect Joel Carter of Jumper/Carter/Sease Architects of West Columbia has proposed about $50 million in school construction in a public vote in November.
“There are really 3 major projects the district has – renovations at the primary school, the high school expansion, and one other need at the elementary school,” Carter told the Twin City News.
The original plan called for a new high school.
Board members are expected to talk with Carter and Greg Hughes of Contract Construction on a final plan to be presented to voters. 
Contract Construction of Irmo is the management firm selected to ensure that the projects come in at or below budget.
A new $50 million bond referendum may propose:
 • Construction of a new media center and cafeteria at Batesburg-Leesville Primary, and converting the current cafeteria into a physical education area with 2 adjoining classrooms and converting the existing media center into 2 new classrooms and restrooms.
• Renovations at Batesburg-Leesville Primary include a new media center, cafeteria, new PE room and classrooms.
• Expansion of Batesburg-Leesville High to include a new secure entrance with an inviting commons area and administrative suite, plus a new media center.
Construction of a new high school fine arts wing will include a new band room that connects the performance arts center to the main campus for student safety.
