Carolina Water Service has changed its name to Blue Granite Water Co,
But it has not changed its practice of asking for rate increases annually.
3 months ago, the company asked for higher sewage rates in the Irmo, Chapin and Ballentine areas.
Now Blue Granite wants regulators to let theym raise water and sewer rates by more than $150 each.
Those affected include 40 Love Point on Lake Murray and Friarsgate in Irmo.
About 1,500 residents have a Letts System on their property underground and designed for sewage.
Blue Granite wants the hike to maintain its systems.
Blue Granite is not allowed to charge more than $150 but if Public Service Commission approval is not overturned, Blue Granite will be allowed to charge it.
