Chapin calls off Labor Day Parade

Health, safety of community a concern

Chapin Labor Day Parade lovers will have to wait until next year.

"After many internal discussions, we have decided to cancel the parade," said town spokesperson Nicholle Burroughs.

"We are not planning any aspects of the festival with the exception of the Justin Pepper 5K which is being reconfigured to meet the current pandemic.

"We understand that this is disappointing but hope that the community will understand that we have not come to this decision lightly.

"The safety of our people is and will always be the first priority.

"We feel strongly that this is the most prudent course of action and the responsible choice."
