Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified a Columbia man struck and killed by a vehicle in West Columbia early Tuesday morning.
Jose G. Pineda, 24, of Columbia, died as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle in the 1900 block of Old Dunbar Road in West Columbia at approximately 3 am Dec. 17, Fisher reported. 
He was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries, she said in a news release. Pineda was assessing an issue with the vehicle in which he had been a passenger when he was struck.   
The incident is under investigation by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
