Covid-19 claimed 2 SC lives Friday

2 deaths reported earlier in Lexington County

2 South Carolinians died from covid-19 Friday.

1 was in Anderson and 1 in Charleston counties.

2 Lexington County deaths were reported.

They occurred Aug. 28 and Sept. 3. Both were elderly.

6 Richland County deaths occurred Sept. 1 - 3.

3 were elderly and 3 were middle aged.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control reported Saturday 918 new confirmed cases and 16 new probable cases.

Lexington County had 61 new cases reported.

Richland County had 137 new cases reported.

Also reported were 32 additional confirmed deaths in SC and no new probable deaths.

30 of the deaths occured earlier in August and September.

Total confirmed cases to date in SC are122,313, probable cases 1,976, confirmed deaths 2,738 and 139 probable deaths.

As of Friday, 1,058,938 tests have been conducted in the state.

7,249 individual test results were reported yesterday statewide.

Of these, the percent positive was 12.7% infected with the virus.

That means 87.3% were negative and uninfected.
