Covid-19 claims 2 elderly Lexington County lives

New SC cases fall more than 50% in a day

SC health officials Wednesday reported a dramatic drop in covid-19 cases from Tuesday.

250 new SC cases were reported, a drop from the 564 new cases reported the day before.

197 were new confirmed cases and 53 new probable cases.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control said the low number is due to a reporting delay of electronic lab results

Also announced were:

- 21 additional confirmed deaths and 1 new probable death.

- 2 were in Lexington County and none in Richland County.

The 2 elderly county victims died last Friday and were reported Wednesday.

- Confirmed cases to date are 143,623, probable cases 4,319, confirmed deaths 3,186 and 192 probable deaths.

As of Tuesday, 1,423,162 tests have been conducted in the state.

1,252 individual test results were reported to DHEC Tuesday.

Of those, the percent tested positive as infected was 15.7%.

That means 84.3% tested negative as virus free.
