Covid-19 concerns have canceled the 2021 SC Poultry Festival in Batesburg-Leesville.
Festival organizers said Tuesday:
"While we would enjoy presenting a festival to you this May, we must first and foremost think of the safety of the attendees, the volunteers, the vendors, the workers, the first responders (including the police departments, fire departments and EMS) and our community. We have carefully monitored the Covid-19 situation, consulted the CDC, as well as the Department of Commerce where we are required to seek permission for any gathering over 250 people. Due to the current climate, we are deeply saddened to announce that we will be postponing this year’s event.
"We will continue to plan the festival for May 2022 and will endeavor to bring you the Most Excellent South Carolina Poultry Festival EVER! We will strive to continue supporting and promoting our community when applicable. As Steering Committee members, we remain truly dedicated to our town, our people, our businesses, our economy, and to resuming the festival in Batesburg-Leesville as soon as it is feasibly possible."
