District 1 chief to earn $214k a year

District 1 Superintendent Greg Little will receive a $5,368 raise to $214,751 a year.
That’s a 1% increase plus 1.5% annual step, according to district spokesperson Mary Beth Hill.
District 1 announced the board-approved salary increase last week.
The board also approved a yearly annuity contribution of 9% of Dr. Little’s annual salary – $19,327 – a 1% increase over last year.
Board members cited Dr. Little’s “outstanding job performance” in his evaluation to extend his contract.
District 1 has 1,923 teachers and 27,363 students in 31 schools in Gilbert, Lexington and Pelion.
District 2 Superintendent Bill James makes $178,398, with 12% – $21,407 – paid to insurance or annuity of his choice, spokesperson Dawn Kujawa confirmed.
District 2 has 629 teachers, 8,947 students in 13 schools in the Cayce-West Columbia area.
District 3 interim Superintendent Stephen Hefner makes $170,382.72 annually. The district provides $625 monthly auto use and maintenance allowance, gas card, mileage reimbursement for travel outside of the county and 20 days vacation leave, according to the district’s Mackenzie Taylor.
The district has 4 schools with 147 teachers and 2,082 students in Batesburg-Leesville.
District 4 Superintendent Robert Maddox Jr. makes $163,250 with no annuity contributions, according to the district’s Lisa Ingram.
District 4 has 222 teachers, 3,350 students in 6 schools in Gaston and Swansea.
District 5 Superintendent Christina Melton makes $185,640. A 2% salary increase was approved in July which includes an additional 5% increase in annuity each year for 3 years. An additional $350 per month for automobile allowance was approved, according to the district’s Katrina Goggins.
District 5 has 1,306 teachers, 17,376 students in 21 schools in Chapin and Irmo.
