District 4 makes administrative changes

New administrators are announced in Lexington District 4

Dr. Marcia Seawright, Dawn Sargent, Brad Coleman, and Rebecca Ferguson have accepted positions in Lexington School District 4.

The Board of Trustees and Staff welcomed 3 new principles and a Chief Financial Officer to the District 4 family. Seawright, Sargent, and Coleman's principal positions will be effective on July 1.

Ferguson's position as Chief Financial Officer will start on February 10, 2020.

Seawright, a Swansea High graduate, returns to the school as principal. She has had multiple administrative roles in Richland 1 in the past 4 years but currently serves as the assistant principal at Keenan High School. She started her career in Lexington 4 as a biology teacher and an instructional coach over a 16-year tenure. Seawright has earned degrees from USC and from Webster University. She holds a Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from USC along with an Educational Specialist degree in Language and Literacy and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from USC. 

Sargent will be moving to the Swansea High Freshman Academy as principal after serving as the assistant principal in Swansea High School since 2018. Sargent's teaching career began in Orangeburg County and moved to Lexington 4 when she served as an English teacher and an instructional coach. Sargent's education stems from Clemson University and Jones International University. She has a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Jones International University along with a Bachelor's degree in English from Clemson University.

Coleman is currently the principal at Edisto High School in Orangeburg County but will return to Lexington 4 as principal of Sandhills Middle School. Coleman has had 25 years of experience in public education. He has served as a teacher, athletic director, head football coach, administrator, and principal. he has previously served as principal at Pine Ridge Middle School and Airport High School in District 2. Coleman was once a teacher and a coach at Sandhills Middle School and Swansea High School. Coleman has received degrees from Cambridge College and USC-Aiken. He has a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Cambridge College and holds a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from USC-Aiken.

Ferguson will be taking the role of Chief Financial Officer in Lexington District 4. She has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from USC-Aiken and a Graduate Certificate in Accounting and Finance from Keller Graduate School of Management of Devry University. Ferguson has nearly 18 years of accounting and finance experience. She has spent the last 7 years in school districts including Orangeburg Consolidated School District. There she was Director of Finance.

If you want to meet any of these administrators, the district will be hosting a meet and greet on March 8 from 3-4:30 pm at Swansea High School. Members of the community are welcome to drop in and visit the new members of the administration team! More information will be provided at a later date.
