Don't swim in these rivers today

Posted

A swim advisory has been issued for parts of rivers in Lexington and Richland Counties.

5 Midlands Rivers Coalition water quality samples collected yesterday came back above the standard for swimming.

The advisory covers the section of the Lower Saluda and Congaree Rivers from the Lower Landing at Saluda Shoals Park in Lexington County to the Rosewod Boat Ramp (aka the Jordan Memorial Boat Ramp) in Richland County.

Contact recreation (swimming, wading, tubing, paddling) is not recommended in the advisory area. At risk groups, including children, people with compromised immune systems, and people with open wounds, should use extreme caution.

Follow-up sampling was conducted today. Those results will be reported tomorrow afternoon.
