Drunk driver caused crash that killed 15-year-old, SCHP says

A Pelion teen died Wednesday after a Feb. 5 3-vehicle collision in Edmund, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Thursday.
She said the collision occurred in the 3800 block of SC 6, near the intersection of Edmund Highway, at approximately 7:20 pm on Feb. 5.
According to Fisher, Dillan Alexander Roldan, 15, of Pelion was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Feb. 10. Roldan was a passenger in one of the 3 vehicles involved in the collision.
Six other people were hurt in the wreck and the driver held responsible faces felony DUI charges.
Officials said Arcenio Perez-Maldonado, 33, of Gaston, was driving drunk when he swerved across the center line into oncoming traffic.
His truck hit an SUV, which spun around and hit a Chevrolet sedan, troopers with the SC Highway Patrol said.
All 4 people in the Chevrolet and all 3 people in the SUV were rushed to the hospital.
Perez-Maldonado was arrested the night of the crash and charged with felony DUI causing great bodily injury, open container and an ABC violation.
After Roldan's death, Perez-Maldonado was charged with felony DUI causing death.
Perez-Maldonado is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center on a $100,465 bond.
