An ex-SCANA CEO faces more than federal fraud charges and years in prison.
South Carolina has charged Kevin Marsh with obtaining millions of dollars in bonuses for covering up a failed nuclear reactor project and lying about it,
Marsh will face a hearing at noon Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Richland County Courthouse before Judge J. Mark Hayes, II.
The hearing on state charges will follow a 10 am hearing in federal court on charges that could cost him millions in fines and up to 10 years in prison.
Marsh and former SCANA COO Stephen Byrne have been charged with lying to the Public Service Commission to win 9 nuclear project rate increases that cost 725,000 ratepayers $2.2 billion.
Sources say federal and state officials are preparing charges against others who took part in the multi-billion-dollar fraud.
SCANA and its partner Santee Cooper mismanaged and abandoned the $10 billion nuclear project they promised would lower their customers power rates.
SCANA and current owner Dominion Energy charge among the highest electric rates in the US.
Dominion wants the PSC to give it almost 8% more in rate increases in 2021.
