Feds crack down on fake CV cures

Have you seen supposed “cures” for the new strain of corona virus online?
Don’t fall for them.
They’re all fake.
The US Federal Trade Commission and Food and Drug Administration sent joint letters to 7 companies that were selling unapproved and misbranded products.
The fraudulent products include essential oils, colloidal silver and teas.
The products claimed to be able to treat or prevent the corona virus.
The FTC says the medical claims of these products have no supporting evidence to back them. Medical claims are required to have evidence by law.
The FDA also got involved.
Why? There are currently no approved vaccines, drugs or investigational products to treat or prevent the corona virus.
Companies who were sent warning letters were: Vital Silver; Aromatherapy Ltd.; N-ergetics; GuruNanda, LLC; Vivify Holistic Clinic; Herbal Amy LLC and The Jim Bakker Show.
Both the FTC and FDA will be following up if any of those companies do not make sufficient corrections. The agencies will make sure fraudulent products aren’t sold on different websites.
Before you try an unproven product, the FTC suggests checking with your physician or another healthcare professional.
To learn more about the virus, the FTC suggests checking the Center for Disease Control’s FAQ at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html .
To keep track of any real treatment for the corona virus, visit www.fda.gov .
