Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have heard of Google. (My 79-year-old grandma, who doesn’t own a computer or a cell, phone has heard of Google.)

We have come a long way from early search engines, which required full sentences to find what we need. You might know that Google now has a dictionary built in, but here are a few more tricks for getting the most out of your search experience.

Use a wildcard. Trying to remember a song title or lyric but can’t recall an important word? Put an * in place of the word you’ve forgotten and Google will fill in possibilities. Try searching lyrics: “I will * love you.”

Search a specific site. Are you trying to find something on your favorite website, but its internal search features aren’t helping? Enter your search terms and then “Site:” with the colon, followed by the website you’d like to search. Try searching sandals site: www.walmart.com.

Convert units of measurement – Units of measurement are simple. Just type your starting measurement and what you need to convert to. Try searching 2 inches to mm.

To convert currencyconverted, type the amount you need to have . When you search, a tool will load which will allow you to easily select whatever currency you need to look at. Try searching $10.

Track your flights by searching your airline and flight number to get up to the minute airline updates, no apps required. Try searching Delta 2232.

There are different tricks to getting the most out of different Google products like Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive, but these will get you started.
