The Town of Lexington wants bids to rebuild the Gibson Pond Park dam.

The dam burst in the October 2015 flood that breached the Barr Road and Old Mill Pond dams, too, and washed away part of US 1.

The highway was rebuilt but the waterways, levees and small dams were not.

Final bids for replacing the Gibson Pond Dam is coming to a close.

The Chronicle has asked the town for an estimated cost of replacing the dam and who will pay for it. Estimates to replace the Old Mill Pond dam farther down stream have been about $5 million.

Only prequalified contractors' bids will be considered

The contractors are:

·          Phillips & Jordan.

·          Morgan Corp.

·          North Georgia Concrete.

·          ASI Construction

·          Thalle Construction

·          Crowder Construction

·          Kiewit Infrastructure South
