A pedestrian was struck and killed by a motor vehicle Jan. 5 around 9:45 pm on Nazareth Road in Lexington.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the victim as Davontaye Laquan Radell Washington, 21.

Washington was walking southbound along the 1000 block of Nazareth Road when he was struck by a motor vehicle, according to Coroner Fisher. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Ashley Nicole Burkhard, 33, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. She’s being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
