If you or a loved are in a local hospital, you may receive covid vaccine.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control said it urges hospitals to vaccinate patients age 65 and older.

Dr. Brannon Traxler of DHEC said this will ensure "the most vulnerable are vaccinated as quickly as possible.”

DHEC aims to speed up the number of those vaccinated.

Phase 1a health care givers are urged to be vaccinated no later than Jan. 15.

The state has received a federal allocation of 146,500 Pfizer doses.

That includes 34,125 doses received this week.

To date 62,632 South Carolinians in Phase 1a have received their 1st dose.

7,698 have received their 2nd dose.

83,844 in Phase 1a are ready to be vaccinated.

Those who have recovered from covid or are not in Phase 1a should not contact hospitals.

Please continue to check the Chronicle web site for updates for your turn to be vaccinated.
