The 47th annual Okra Strut will be postponed until 2021.

"It was a hard decision to make," Irmo Mayor Barry Walker told the Chronicle.

"But without knowing who would show up with covid-19 and the cost, we didn't have much choice."

The popular 2-day festival costs more than $45,000 to stage.

"We'll be back next year," the mayor said, "and better than ever."
