Lexington mask law expires
Lexington has allowed its required masks-in-public law to expire.
Although other communities are extending theirs, town officials saw no reason to do it, too.
"It was not discussed at the Council meeting." town spokesperson Laurine Barnes said.
"All of the governor’s mandates surrounding in-town businesses are in place.
"This was simply the Town Emergency Ordinance that expired."
State and national health officials have warned of a possible fall surge in covid-19 infections.
But local business owners fear such dire warnings will harm a fledgling economic recovery.
Positive SC test results are rising due to greater testing.
But Lexington County has not reported a single death in the last 7 days.
SC's increase in positive test results rose only 2.3% compared to 4.0% nationally.
