Lexington Medical Center collecting cards for patients

A hand made greeting card can cheer up patients in the hospital during this difficult time.
Lexington Medical Center is collecting these homemade cards for patients due to a policy prohibiting visitors during the covid-19 pandemic,
Lexington Medical Center requests cards with hope-filled, happy messages.
The cards should be designed for all inpatients, not just those with covid-19. Nurses will deliver them to patients’ rooms.
Designing cards can be a good activity for children.

“Children need a way to express their concerns in a positive way," said Donna Peele, director of pastoral care.
"By thinking beyond themselves, they learn about empathy and discover their power to help  instead of being stuck in what feels like an out of control situation to them,”
If you would like to bring cards to the hospital, place them in a sealed zipper storage bag. Tightly sealing the cards in a bag for 24 hours will kill germs on the cards that could have been transferred to patients or staff.
Drop off the bags at the South Entrance of the hospital at 2720 Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia from 9 am to 4 pm. Monday to Friday.
That’s the entrance at the front of the hospital complex on US 378.
On arrival, call (803) 791 – 2901. A representative from Pastoral Care will pick up the cards from the car window.
